Understand a possible substitution
Yarn Match compares the pattern requirements and yarn details you enter. Review differences in weight, fibre, construction, length and gauge. Missing details remain unknown; the comparison is guidance, not a promise that two yarns will behave alike.
Keep the swatch, and the story behind it
Record a swatch photo, yarn, needles, measured width and height, and the stitches and rows counted inside that area. Note whether the fabric was washed or blocked.
Compare with the pattern
Gauge Check compares your sample with the recommended stitches and rows per 10 cm. Use it to understand the difference, then re-swatch when changing yarn, needles or technique. A numeric match alone cannot guarantee the same drape or fit.
