Your knitting library
The app stores patterns, projects, yarn, swatches, photos, notes, counters, bookmarks and annotations in its storage on your device. Preferences are also stored locally. These records provide the features you choose to use.
The current app does not require an account, send your library to the developer, or contain advertising, tracking or third-party analytics. Automatic cross-device iCloud sync is not enabled in this version.
Photos, camera and files
You choose files and photos through Apple’s pickers. Camera permission is requested when you choose to scan paper pages. Imported copies and scans become part of the local library. You can manage camera permission in device Settings and use file import instead.
Exports and sharing
You choose where to save or share library archives and annotated PDFs. The developer does not receive a copy through the app. Archives include original patterns, photos, project and yarn details, swatches, notes, counter history and editable annotations. Where rendering succeeds, they also include flattened annotated PDF copies.
Archives are not encrypted or password-protected by Purl & Paper. Anyone with access to an exported file may be able to read it. Use storage locations and recipients you trust.
Device backups and other services
Apple or computer backups may include app data according to your settings. This is separate from in-app sync. When you save an export to iCloud Drive or another provider, that provider handles it under its own terms. Apple may process App Store, TestFlight or diagnostic information according to your account and device settings; the app does not include a separate analytics or crash-reporting service.
Retention and deletion
Local records remain until you delete them or delete the app and its data. Offloading may retain app data. Recoverable project snapshots can retain earlier details while their project remains in the library. Deleting a record does not delete exports, originals in Files, Photos library items or older backups. Manage those copies separately. Keep a backup before replacing or deleting device data.
This website
This site uses no advertising trackers, analytics scripts or account system. Its navigation and image previews do not store personal preferences. Hosting providers may process technical request information, such as an IP address and browser information, to deliver and protect the website. On the existing GitHub Pages host, this is covered by GitHub’s privacy statement. Links to Apple’s App Store are subject to Apple’s policies.
Support messages
If you email support, the developer receives your address, message and any attachments through the email provider. These are used to respond to your request. Send only information needed to explain the issue. Contact us to request deletion of correspondence, subject to any records that must be retained.
